I was very touched by the idea that, on Shabbos, we don't stop creating, but we turn our creative focus inwards. It is not a "vacation" from our lives, but it allows us to focus on the important work we don't often find time for during the week - the work of character improvement.
Your thoughts?
I find that idea touching, too. During the work week, I define myself by what I get done or accomplish. Shabbos is the one day free of distractions when I can focus on becoming the best version of myself, independent of what concrete tasks I accomplish. It's the one time I'm in touch with who I am rather than focusing only on what I get done.
